Children's books by Cynthia Reeg
For today's "Tuesday with the Tots", I'll be sharing with you about some books for children by Cynthia Reeg. These books are all available through Guardian Angel Publishing - both in print copies and as E-Books.
Doggie Day Camp: Verb and Adverb Adventures is part of a series of books that Cynthia is writing called "Pet Grammar Parade". This book not only contains a cute little story about a dog named Bubba, but it's also a very educational book. As a homeschooling mother, these are the types of books I enjoy!
At the beginning of Doggy Day Camp, Cynthia explains what verbs and adverbs are. Verbs are explained in blue and adverbs in red. Then, throughout the book, every time a verb or adverb is used, it is written in that same color, for easily recognition and identification. Kids won't even realize that they are learning, but their brain will be putting the colors together with the parts of speech, and they'll be learning in a fun way!
After the story, there is more explanation (a "study guide") on verbs and adverbs and their usage. The book also contains 6 worksheet-style activities (such as word search, fill-in-the-blank, and scrambled words). And, the best part for parents - the answer key!
Kitty Kerplunking
was the first book in the "Pet Grammar Parade" series. This one is
written in much the same style as Doggie Day Care, with the emphasis on
prepositions. Again, prepositions are explained at the beginning of the
book, and throughout the story they are highlighted in ALL CAPS for
easy identification. The book concludes with 6 fun preposition
activities to complete, a short study guide, more ideas for exploring
prepositions, and the ever-handy answer key!
The pictures in Doggie Day Camp are more whimsical and fun, while the ones in Kitty Kerplunking are more of a watercolor look. Two different illustrators, both with different perspectives and styles, but both lots of fun.
Though very different from the other two books, Gifts from God
is a precious picture book for little ones. Each 2-page spread contains
a beautiful, full-color photograph, a Scripture verse, and a reminder
of God's loving gifts to us each and every day. It's simple words and
interesting pictures make this a book that the very youngest of
children will enjoy listening to, but it's also a great reminder of
God's love to older children and even to adults!
I enjoyed all of these titles by Cynthia Reeg and will definitely share these books with my own children. I'll also be watching for more books in the "Pet Grammar Parade" series.

Heidi,
Thanks so much for your wonderful reviews of my books. I'm so glad you enjoyed them, and I certainly hope your children will as well. I love to see children as excited about the world of words as I am--and taking delight in all the gifts God has given us.
Blessings,
Cynthia Reeg
