Wordle! How much fun is this!

Ok, so am I behind ?? I learned of "Wordle" today. This is one of simple things that you just can't get enough of. So what is it?
Directly from Wordle...
Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.
I found this new toy through another new toy I have been doing for about a month now, yeah, way late on this one, "Twitter." Back to that later in the post!
You don't need a website to enjoy "Wordle". You can use any words you want. Like maybe type in all the consequences for your teenager if they don't get their chores done! HA! Oh, my girlie, I don't need to do that to her. I used Wordle for our site here, Take Root and Write. You just type in your website address, and Wordle seeks and generates a very cool cloud of your most frequent choice of words on your site. I was very pleased when I saw the cloud it generated for us! You want to see?
So! You see the biggest word?? Yes! God! I love that it did not pick up like our TRW writers team names. This is strictly from the posts themselves. You can play around and adjust the colors, fonts, layout direction, language, lots of customization!
I have to input here that when you are playing around make sure you realize you can do so by right clicking on your "Wordle"- all the options pop easily. I am adding some small pics here to show samples of what I mean. Just click and they will pop up big for you. Most people wont realize this shortcut Wordle has given us. Even to remove a word, you just don't want in there! So let's look...
Click on this image to open and see what happens when you right click on your Wordle to edit.
This pic, expanded will show how clicking on the 'open in window' gives you a new edit feature! How about clicking on any word or words you just don't want in there and right click and have just them removed!
Like Take Root Write's Wordle has complainer, I left it there, but maybe you would not want it there~ freedom to remove! Open this pic and see.
Just experiment! I did not even experiment and loved what I got. I seriously can't believe I did not experiment~ that is so not like me. I will be headed back over to Wordle. Probably make a love note to my hubby. I saw someone did their Mission Statement~ LOVE THAT!
So head over! Once you get the Wordle the way you want it, what can you do with it??
You can print it~ yes, print it of course on Photopaper! What a unique
gift in a frame, hmmmm, like for my love letter. Well, that might not
be good in a frame...
You can do like I am and putting in a post on my blog or post it anywhere. Wordle is awesome in that it allows us to do whatever we want! They do ask that if you upload into a post you link it back. Thus the reason why I keep Linking the word, Wordle.
How did I get mine in a jpeg to upload, well that's simple on a mac, especially if you use software called, Snapz Pro. It runs 24/7 on my mac and any pic or video I want is literally at my fingertips, framed, sized and saved as what I want it to be. Well, you can get details at the link! Most are on Windows, you can do a capture of your pic, I mean "Wordle". You can use- CTRL and PRT SCR to make a screenshot. Then open a graphic software you have, I believe even paint will work, it's been so long since I tackled any graphics on a PC.
Jan over at Slides that Stick typed it out well for you! He uses Powerpoint. The clever part is after you paste it in, crop if you need to and then right click and save image as (and where) you want it to be.
- CTRL and PRT SCR to make a screenshot
- Open a blank PPT page (or open any graphics software)
- CTRL and V to paste the image in
- Right-click and do "save as" in the desired format
From there, you have your Wordle and are
free to move about the web! You could 'Host' your Wordle on Photobucket
and then use the HTML or Direct Link to work into code to paste
somewhere. Or your also ready to upload to your blog.
I just had an idea!! I have a new Meme! It's Wordle Wednesday!
I love it! Every Wednesday create a Wordle to upload from a certain
topic... I will think it through and present it. Hey! No one take the
idea from me, I patent it right here in Blog in a Blog! Too funny. We will see that explained later this week.
Well have fun with your Wordle's! You can come back and post a link
back to your created Wordles if you like! Would be fun to see. Ok, I
mentioned I would be talking about Twitter and looking an my fav
Twitter app. You will have to head over to my Computer Coaching Column
for that post!
If you don't have your own blog. Maybe don't want to work through all
the extra tech stuff to set one up. You can join us over in Christian Women Take Root where you have your own blog built in! You can share with our community of almost 300 women.
Go get to wordling!

I am TOTALLY loving this!!! Thanks for the heads up, I WILL be using this sometime soon! yay!
