Are you full?
Happy Black Friday! Are you full of turkey and still sleepy or have you been up for hours fighting the crowds to find the best deals? As you read this, that is probably where I will be. I have never gone out on black Friday before, this will be my first year. I am NOT a morning person! I have never found it appealing to go out before dawn, in the cold, to "fight" over presents. I have never thought the savings could really be worth all that. However, with the economy the way it is, and money being tight, I am hoping for some better than usual deals and I am going to go.
This last year has been a financial challenge. Not getting child support and having to hire an attorney has put me in some debt I don't want to be in and I admit I have stressed over. I was even going to tell my sister, let's only buy for our own kids this year. Have you ever had to do that? I know many families are cutting the Christmas budget too. However, about the same time I was having these thoughts, it was also the week we read about generosity in our character makeover. I realized getting my nieces and nephews a little something is not going to force us out of our home. AND I really do feel more blessed when I am able to give. God is watching out for us and I know he will provide. I am so thankful to be full of the holy spirit and not just turkey!
Ephesians 3:14-19
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
I am thankful I am able to share some encouragement from a single income family to people who have recently become a single income family due to a layoff. I am so thankful to be full of hope and excitement over what God has planned for me on the other side of this financial storm.
So while your tummy is full of turkey, and your shopping bags are full of stuff, I hope your heart is full of the love of Jesus. It is free and definitely the best deal out there!
