CLEAR OUT THE CLUTTER

God hasn't invited us into a disorderly, unkempt life but into something holy and beautiful—as beautiful on the inside as the outside. ~ 1 Thessalonians 4:6b (TM)

One of the things I have noticed a lot of Work at Home Moms get frustrated with is their work space.  Yes, being nterrupted, being sleepy, being distracted, and being ungrateful can all get in the way from having a wonderfully productive work day, but guess what...so can CLUTTER!

It's funny to me that something so simple can wreck your plans so quickly.

I don't know if it is just something we don't want to deal with, or it is inconvenient, or just too overwhelming, but sometimes our desks can look like a tornado blew through them and then we sit there and wonder why we feel like we didn't get anything accomplished that day.

Could it be because we couldn't find it?

All you need is deep within you waiting to unfold and reveal itself. All you have to do is be still and take time to seek for what is within, and you will surely find it. -Eileen Caddy

I love that verse in 1 Thessalonians 4:6b in The Message where it says that "God hasn't invited us into a disorderly, unkempt life..."

Did you catch that?

it goes on to say "...but into something holy and beautiful - as beautiful on the inside as the outside."

Does your work space look like something holy and beautiful?

or

Does it need a little TLC?

We must alter our lives in order to alter our hearts, for it is impossible to live one way and pray another. - William Law

Listen, I can totally relate.  I used to think it made me look "busier" or more "productive" but in all reality you are probably less productive.

I found this great little nugget over at "One Organized Life Blog" that I just had to share;
Create a healthy work environment for yourself. Make sure you have adequate lighting. Get a comfortable chair. Buy a plant. Listen to music that isn’t distracting - avoid mellow sleep inducing music, songs that bring down your mood, or music that makes you want to get up and dance every two minutes. Find the balance between upbeat and out of your seat. Tidy up your work space at the end of the day so you don’t dread starting work the next day because of the prep work you have to do just to get started. Getting started is tough enough as it is - don’t make it harder for yourself.

If all else fails, remember this verse from the Bible, in 1 Corinthians 14:33 (NIV) it says, "For God is not a God of disorder but of peace."

We want to be women whose Work at Home environment is holy and beautiful so that we can be all the God created us to be.  Remember, we are truly blessed to be able to be Work at Home Moms, and we serve a GREAT and MIGHTY God.

It only takes a step to get it started...some filing here, some re-arranging there, light dusting, and probably putting things away, but when we do take the time to clean up the CLUTTER we will be able to be a better vessel for God to use.  Not only in our work but in our families.

This is a great way to get started; "Ask God's blessing on your work, but don't ask him to do it for you." ~Dame Flora Robson

Come on, break out the CLUTTER and make your work at home holy and beautiful...He deserves it, and so do you!
