Your Time and Your Season
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Eccles 3:1
Do you feel something changing in your life, but you haven't quite put your finger on it yet? Many times, as moms, we can tell when something is gong on with our kids or family. But God also allows us to individually have a preemptive recognition of changes that are about to occur. For the past three months, I have received numerous emails and private twitters asking me if I knew what was happening to them and to the world we live in. Today, however, I want to focus on you and the change that is occurring in your life because God knows the playbook frontwards and backwards. So glad it is His playbook and we are just players on His field. It sure takes the pressure off.
One of the primary things I find in restructuring our lives is taking inventory of skills and desires. What are you most passionate about? In the corporate world I found myself inching closer and closer to the top positions. At first it was very uncomfortable. That meant more responsibility to the "head" and to those who I was asked to lead and to support. Isn't it interesting that is the same playbook as moms and dads, employees or employers. We start out with a set of gifts from God, then He allows us to be put into places to develop them--and that's not always in a religious setting.
God's gifts are not just for the church. God gives us gifts and skills to help people. His creation. How many opportunities to we have each day to use our gifts, our specially developed skills to be a blessing to somebody. That somebody might not know the God you serve, but your involvement might be the drop of water or the first seed to get a new plant into the kingdom.
Growing in the corporate world and in the "church" world, many are the mistakes people can tell you about me and others. It isn't how many times you fall, its how many times you get up and try again. What are you passionate about that perhaps you haven't given it a fair chance to express itself in your life? Have you tried before and it just didn't work out? Passion is like a fire that pushes the rocket higher.
WEEKLY CHALLENGE: First of all YOU are awesome, beautifully, wonderfully made with gifts and talents you might not even be aware of. Take inventory of your skills and gifts. Write them down and as the week goes along, review them, add to them as you think about other things you do and by the end of the week, I hope you will identify where you would like to put more passion towards!
We get ready for new seasons with diets, change of clothes--how about a new season of life and passion? Are you ready! Let's get passionate for change.
Next week we're going to put that passion to work!
