Its All About Understanding
It seems like the whole world is beginning to Twitter these days, and I am amazed at some of the people I have met. What a joy to find people with the same passions. For those of you who don't know me well, my passions are first God and teaching, then news and politics. Many of my female friends wonder how that goes together. Some of my dear sisters have tried to point out that they don't, but that's not what the Bible says.
It's all about understanding who you are, and who God is in you. A bigger question is this, is God operating in and through you? Do you have a relationship with God through prayer, fasting, biblical study and exercising your gifts? If so, then you already know that the Bible talks about many different types of gifts that develop a number of different skills and they all work together in the Kingdom. One is not special over another.
I have been privileged in my life to have met a number of very special women. Their stories reflect not being understood as children, because they weren't the perfect little girl or little lady that mom's always wanted. To my sisters who like to play baseball with the boys, climb trees and pick fruit, compete with anything the boys were doing--and win--Kudos! If you or your daughters like to get out in the big family garden in your bare feet, weed, water, and feel the mud squish between your toes, and especially to those women who joined the military for whatever reasons, I smile with you.
My hat is equally off to those who continue to be homemakers, cooking, cleaning, sewing, canning (yes, I loved doing it), and even home schooling your children--you are also women of distinction. We are in no way limited because of gender. Our differences are encouraged by the God who made us and gifted us with His perfect gifts for use.
Recently we have witnessed the quick transition of this nation and others around the globe from being prosperous in many ways, to near collapse. We are witnessing the end of freedoms and rights that we thought we would have in this nation until Jesus came back. When a home Bible study in San Diego can be threatened by a local law enforcement person just for having people come to their private home to discuss Jesus and the Bible, then all Christians are in trouble.
When people who have worked hard all their lives, owned businesses that they have paid for years ago, but are dependent on a manufacturer to supply the product is suddenly told that you have a month to liquidate and by the way, you no longer have the right to your business, all Americans are in trouble.
It is amazing to me how many people I speak with on a weekly basis that do not know what is going on even here in America, let alone around the world. We are a global nation in terms of how we interact and who really owns the bonds that keep money flowing here-that's China and Japan. So yes, I am a connoisseur of news and politics because it becomes a prayer journal.
As one person tried to point out to me, as an exhorter giving the impression that as a Christian we should never say anything against the government, the leadership, or anything that is being stolen from us. Christians fought in the Revolutionary War to gain our freedom in America, and Christians have fought in one way or another in every war we have been involved in.
Another area we should be prayerful about are the watchmen on the wall, those who are called to be intercessors and have a discernment of potential things. The watchman were those who stood on the wall all day and all night watching for trouble that potentially could come against the people safely inside the gated cities. And the prophets often walked along side the king and had no problem telling them when they were in error. Let us not forget Nehemiah who had women working along side the men to build a wall to protect the temple, creating a type of gated city.
We are all born with a purpose, skills, and a gifts. We are given gifts that are magnified as we operate in them for the glory of God. Proverbs 31 we speak so much about this woman who was industrious, working to provide for her family. I have no doubt that when harm was coming towards them, that she did what was necessary for the protection of all.
It all comes down to understanding our place, our calling, taking advantage of the doors God puts before us, and making sure it is the door He has prepared for us. If you feel forced into a corner that is uncomfortable, ask God why and listen to his reply. Ask God where you belong and what you are to be doing. As we grow and accept more of God, sometimes our assignments change. Be ready to flow with His glory at all times. Its a great ride that comes with understanding.
Lots of things are happening that keep people on edge, but there is a peace through God that allows you to move without worry, knowing that you are lead by the Lord in all things. If you don't have that peace today, I pray you receive it. I pray for your deeper understanding of the One who is above all things.
Love and hugs,
