The Lord is my Shepherd
I would like to begin this article with a prayer for you. Lord Jesus, I adore you. I praise you and thank you for this day. Cleanse my heart and forgive me of my sins. Accept my gift of praise to you and fill my heart with your Spirit. Father I lift up to you women who are married to an un-believer and who seek your guidance. Give them the gift of wisdom and the strength they need for each day. Lord I pray for their husbands. Give their husbands the desire in their hearts to want to know who you are. Father, I pray for the salvation of these men and pray that they will be the man of God you have destined them to be. Thank you Lord for their salvation and for the many lives they will be a testament to. In the precious name of your son Jesus, Amen.
As we seek the Lord for guidance in our marriages and as we allow the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom, there will be moments when we just want to quit. Quit praying, quit being nice, quit cooking, quit being married - just quit. But the Bible tells us to not be weary in doing good. Friends and family members would encourage me to not to give up. Hear my heart as I encourage you to not give up. The following scripture always comforts me when my soul is tired:
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9
Ladies it is so important and vital to our relationship to Christ to stay in His Word. Sometimes I find myself at a loss as to what I should read. Or what to study. If I don't address this desire to get in the Word - I find myself growing Spiritually hungry. (The following example usually happens on a weekend). Spiritually hungry for me is when I see my Bible in the morning and say "I got to get in the Word before I start my day. Well, after I make breakfast. Then I can read the Word in peace." When breakfast is prepared and eaten I take my Bible and set it on the table where I intend to study and see that no one cleaned up the mess. So to keep the peace (and quiet), I tell myself "I'll get into the Word after I clean up these dishes." I don't ask for help because I want to maintain the peacefulness for my quiet time with the Lord. So, I finish cleaning the kitchen and then I look at the clock and I say, "If I start the laundry and get that out of the way, I can have some time before lunch to spend time with the Lord in his Word!" The first load is in the washer and I tell myself, "I might as well do the bathroom since it's a small room and shouldn't take that long". By the time I finish the bathroom my first load of laundry is ready for the dryer and I gather some clothes for the second load". LUNCH TIME! Well, I think you get the picture. How many of you do this one. Toss up a pop-corn prayer. You throw up some words, in all sincerity of course, and POP! An instant prayer to God to cover the whole day. And it goes something like this:
"Oh Lord. I thank you for today. Please be with me through this day. Thank you for waking me up this morning and please be with so-and-so today and bless so-and-so and I pray for my pastor and his wife to be blessed and please be with my children and go before me the rest of this day and help me get everything done today so I can spend some time with you. Thank you God. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. P.S. Please save my husband."
The Lord is My Shepherd
We all have busy days. God knows this. But don't let yourself get so busy that you can't spend time with God. It takes discipline to keep a balanced day. The enemy will have you think that its normal to be so busy. So busy that everything gets out of control and out of balance. God wants you to enjoy your days and to keep them in balance.
Sometimes I take my Bible with me to the bathroom and read a chapter or two. When I'm in the shower, I talk to Him. I make it a point to read a devotional in the morning as part of morning routine. Spend quality time with God. Get to know Him through His Word. And remember to set some quality time for your family. God bless you ladies and until we meet again, may the Lord bestow upon you His love, grace and peace.
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflos. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalms 23
