No Mercy, Know Mercy

Letters From the King

Dear Child,

The world that you live in can be an ugly, painful place, but so can your inward world, the place in your heart. This is because you are depraved in your nature, since the day you were born. You were born into sin. The fact that you are a sinner is a painful truth, but moreover, the fact is some people have no mercy for those they view as wrongful sinners. Sadly, they forget that they too are a sinner.

I am sure you have felt it many times. You enter a crowded room but no one makes eye contact. It is like you are invisible. You walk up to say a word, and you get a cold shoulder. People pretend to be in a deep in conversation or too busy with the task at hand. They have to answer the phone, solve a problem, share a great story or rush off to run an errand. They try to avoid you because they have no mercy to give to a sinner like you. They have heard about you, your testimony of being a sinner saved, and want nothing to do with you.

Learn this important lesson...you can't give to others what you have never received. Perfect people don't have mercy. They have never needed it, so they never been blessed with receiving it. They belong to a group of people who don't go too deep nor take their mask off. You see, people can always pretend on the outside that everything is just 'great'! They have a nice family, husband has a great job, and children do well in school and extracurricular activities. They have all their needs met:  food, clothes, home, friends, car, and money in the bank. What more could a person need they wonder? Mercy is the resounding answer. . .mercy!

If you know Me, you know mercy. I am so merciful. Without mercy you could never have restored your relationship with Me. It was by My mercy that I forgave your sins. Mercy has allowed you to know the righteousness that only comes through surrendering your will to living your life for Me alone. You don't have to work to receive My mercy, you just have to open your hands and let go of your will for your life.

If you cling to self-sufficiency, you can't reach out to receive. My mercy never runs dry. It is newly given to you every morning, to face anything that comes your way and to cover anything that happened yesterday. The promise of  My mercy brings with it great hope. By knowing mercy you are released from the shackles of sin, to walk. . .even skip into today. Come to Me, know the depth of My mercy, and walk lighter today.
