A consummate creative, Joan is one who just enjoys creating things…be it in baking, crafting, music, photography, teaching. An entrepreneur with several ventures, She began her visual communications company, the Image Maker,in 1985. The Image Maker began as a full-service photography studio, but she now works from her home doing mostly commissioned photographic assignments.
With a passion to see girls and young women to embrace their own beauty and become all that they can be, she develops gender-responsive programs for girls, designed to help them grown into strong, confident women. She is the founder of Positive Image Network, a 501c(3) with the mission of providing resources for the personal development of girls and young women in helping them to discover their gifts and talents, cultivate a positive sense of self, and develop leadership skills
She holds photography workshops for girls, using a program that she developed to help them discover purpose, build self-esteem and leadership skills, while learning to take better pictures. She also provides assistance to groups and organizations interested in developing gender-responsive programs for girls.
She is a University lecturer, and a substitute teacher in her local school districts. Additionally, she is a speaker on issues relative to girls and women, and she also holds workshops for business people, teaching them how to develop creative flow for more success in their business.
With a love for the Word and the beauty and wonders of God, she has her own line of inspirational photographic art.
Joan lives in Hesperia, CA, with her husband Arnie, and her daughter, Natalie, who has special needs. Between them they've raised six children.Okay, let's not forget the cats--Simone (the alpha, the princess, she talks) and David.
