We have an awesome team here at Take Root and Write. Being women, we also have lives that lead us in all different directions and turns. Which in turn opens up columns to new writers frequently. Some of our writers have been with us since we opened on July 17th, 2009. Others have joined a long the way. All writing opportunities are kept up to date below! Our Writer's Page can be found here...
Take Root and Write Current Writer's
PLEASE Do not contact us about writing until you have read this page in its entirety.
You will save us both a lot of time. Thank you so much!!!
Potential Writers for these areas will need to show The Editing Team what qualifies them to write for a particular topic. It cannot be only because you are dealing with one of these areas in your own life, but that you are also equipped to encourage, inform, educate, and support other Christian women in these areas.
Potential Writers of TRW do not need to be published authors. (although yes, many of them are) From the start of TRW it has been my prayer that God not let me miss ANY women He sends my way because of me getting in the way! I know many Christian Women out there blogging and have a gift for writing and encouragement. Maybe no one hardly reads your blog. But God has anointed you to say something! We pray over every decision we make for the TRW team. For you and For TRW. If you truly feel you could do it and God is prompting you, it can't hurt to contact us.
We do look for dedicated, committed writer's.
Never take it personal if it does not work out for you to write for us. God knows ALL things. We trust you will be where He wants you! If He wants you somewhere else, we pray He closes the door for you here!
All writers need to join our Community Christian Women Take Root. Part of the Take Root and Write Ministry is to connect over in the community. This is not time consuming. Is very organized.
*Please note this first section is for Columnists.
Under this is information on how you can be a 'Guest Contributor' through one of our Categories.
It is 2 totally different things.

This is brand new here at Take Root and Write. We have decided to open up our categories for Christian Women across the web to submit articles for. For submitting an article to a category we have a separate Co-Editor that you will be working with. You do not need to learn any of the tech involved as she will post your article for you. It will appear with of course your blog/site link at the bottom along with your signature. All Category Articles also are published in our weekly Digital Magazine.
See 'Our Take Root and Write Guest Writer Submission' for more detailed information & for submitting. Below are the categories, you can click on each to see the descriptions.

Columnists Writer’s Guidelines; Note- this is not for Guest Writer's
- Must Become Member of Christian Women Take Root BEFORE deciding to write. As it is total partnership with all TRW writers. Not a bad idea to even go over and join before contacting us about writing. We no longer make it a requirement to moderate a group over at CWTR, but would love if you did.
- Writers Submit to their columns either, once a week or bi-monthly.
- Each writer types up their own post in typepad. As a TRW writer you receive a Guest Writer Invitation to TRW. All TRW Writers are free to post in the 'CATEGORIES' as they like.
- TRW Writers never post in someone else's column.
- We have a Senior Editor; Shona Neff & CoEditor Shonda Savage Whitworth; they go in and check all posts and time to publish them. We have solid deadlines for having your post ready for publishing. So we do expect commitment.
- Writer’s must own the rights to what they submit. You are responsible for your words & your pictures.
- NOTE- Yes, You DO own the rights to your articles on TRW. You are solely responsible for any
copyrighted information, including pictures.- But please remember…
When writing for TRW, No articles posted on the site are to be posted elsewhere. This takes away from the originality of Take Root and Write. The only exception is if you include at the end of your post that it was originally written for Take Root and Write & have a link to it to the original post. (note that Take Root and Write needs to be linked as above) - You do own the rights to your articles but once I start a column, if that writer leaves, I retain the right to offer that column to a new writer to take over. As I cannot just open and close columns, makes for a very inconsistent site! So choose wisely about your column title. (If its a Brand new column) I will input on title as well. I also do all graphics for both sites and will do your columns picture that stays at the top of the column. If you had to move on from TRW, I would change the description to the new writer’s info. But not the column name or direction.
- But please remember…
- Being a Christian Women’s Site; yes you need to be a Christian Woman who is active in her walk, faith and attending your church.
- We are non-denominational. We unite in knowing Jesus Christ as our personal savior.
- Although some articles submitted will not actually contain great spiritual content, it is always, to reflect Biblical Perspective. We only use the King James Versions, NIV, Message, Amplified Versions of Scripture.
- I would love for EVERY article to add at least a scripture at the end. Even for sports- you can find one on endurance, etc.
- No posts of condemnation toward anyone or thing.
- We want posts that capture the interests of our readers; Christian Women, & women seeking guidance.
- Not looking for sermons, or articles about your way of what you think church should be like.
- This is not an online ‘journal’. Every posts needs to be directed towards your column or a category. Although I realize you will pull from your daily life at times to construct your post. There is balance in this. It needs to be able to turn around and have direct purpose for sharing.
- If guidelines are broken I or Senior Editor Shona Neff will notify you and break the link to your post; either to allow you to adjust it or to remove it.
Each writer types up their article inside Typepad. So obviously there is a little bit of TECH to being a writer for us.
Is very simple after you spend a little time
with it! Even non-techies can do it. We have a TRW private group in the
Members Area and I have all the help you need including Video Tutorials.
So! Potential Writers...
