Take Root and Write Publishing has 3 different areas to submit articles. If you have been to this page before, some information has changed. As of April 23rd, 2010, we have made submissions for the digital magazine separate from 'site' submissions.
For Clarification...
The site itself publishes articles Monday- Friday. We ALSO have our Digital Magazine. We have columnists that are the only ones that contribute to their column. We also have columns that do not have assigned writers at this time and we accept guest writer submissions. You are on the right page if you want to submit for the site itself as a guest writer or apply for a columnist position.
As of May 2010 it is separate from the site & publishes once a month. None of the articles found in the Digital Magazine will be found on the site. We have changed the name of the Digital Magazine to, Rooted Living. We have separate guidelines for submitting to Rooted Living. If that is what you are interested in, please go HERE
Note: You can do both/ all. All of our columnists & guest contributors are more than welcome to submit an article for any issue of Rooted Living.
Interesting in writing Devotions?
Our New Branch, Take Root and Write Devotions is open. Email Our Editor of Devotions; Melissa Mashburn--- here. Take Root and Write Devotions will also link back over to Take Root and Write. Melissa is already putting together a team. Devotions are submitted and the editor posts, and publishes them.
Lets Continue for Potential Columnists and Guest Writer Submissions to Our Site!
Guest Writer Submissions are for our Columns that do not have an active columnist at this time. Also for Our Columns that we actually leave as 'Open for Guest Writers'. See below for details.

We have an awesome team here at Take Root and Write. Being women, we also have lives that lead us in all different directions. Which in turn opens up columns to new writers frequently. Some of our writers have been with us since we opened on July 17th, 2008. Others have joined a long the way. All writing opportunities are kept up to date below! Our Current List of Writer's can be found here...
Take Root and Write Current Writer's
Each Columnist at Take Root and Write has their own Bio Page as seen above.
We appreciate your time, as we are sure you can appreciate ours by reading this before contacting us to submit as a Columnists or Guest Writer.
Please Click to Read Our Statement of Faith to make sure we are in agreement.
Potential Writers for these areas will need to show our Senior Editor what qualifies them to write for a particular topic. It cannot be only because you are dealing with one of these areas in your own life, but that you are also equipped to encourage, inform, educate, and support other Christian women in these areas.
Potential Writers of TRW do not need to be published authors. (although yes, many of them are) From the start of TRW it has been my prayer that God not let me miss ANY women He sends my way because of me getting in the way! I know many Christian Women out there blogging and have a gift for writing and encouragement. Maybe no one hardly reads your blog. But God has anointed you to say something! We pray over every decision we make for the TRW team. For you and For TRW. If you truly feel you could do it and God is prompting you, it can't hurt to contact us.
Never take it personal if it does not work out for you to write for us. God knows ALL things. We trust you will be where He wants you! If He wants you somewhere else, we pray He closes the door for you here.
We do look for dedicated, committed writer's. So please prayerfully consider your commitment and dedication before submitting. All our writers are basically volunteers. We do not offer paid positions. What TRW does have to offer our writers is exposure, experience, and networking. We have many faithful women, from published to just starting their journey, that write for us for different reasons. I am especially excited that most, if not all of our writers, write because their hearts have a message to share. It is a wonderful and warm community of ladies.
If you are interested in pursuing a position with TRW, we would love to see a sample of your what you have in mind for the column. As a side, since we do not pay, we do not have a problem if you would like to publish your work elsewhere. We only ask that, if you put it somewhere on the internet (like a personal blog) that you indicate the article was first published on TRW and provide a Complete link to the original article on Take Root and Write. There are no time constraints like you would find if we bought first rights and such.
Also if you are interested in submitting for Devotions.

Writer’s Guidelines:
All of the below applies to columnists. Guest Writer Submissions, all apply except for we input your article to typepad. You do not join the Private Writer's group. There is no need. Guest writer's also submit randomly.
- Columnists Must Become Member of Christian Women Take Root. We have our Private Writer's Group inside there with all the tutorials on being part of our team.
- Writers Submit to their columns either, monthly or bi-monthly
- Each writer types up their own post in typepad. (we send you an invite)
- We have solid deadlines for having your post ready for publishing. So we do expect commitment.
- Writer’s must own the rights to what they submit. You are responsible for your words & your pictures.
- NOTE- Yes, You DO own the rights to your articles on TRW. You are solely responsible for any
copyrighted information, including pictures.- But please remember…
When writing for TRW, No articles posted on the site are to be posted elsewhere. This takes away from the originality of Take Root and Write. The only exception is if you include at the end of your post that it was originally written for Take Root and Write & have a link to it to the original post. (note that Take Root and Write needs to be linked as above) - You do own the rights to your articles but once I start a column, if that writer leaves, I retain the right to offer that column to a new writer to take over. As I cannot just open and close columns, makes for a very inconsistent site! So choose wisely about your column title. (If its a Brand new column) I will input on title as well. I also do all graphics for both sites and will do your columns picture that stays at the top of the column. If you had to move on from TRW, I would change the description to the new writer’s info. But not the column name or direction.
- But please remember…
- Being a Christian Women’s Site; yes you need to be a Christian Woman who is active in her walk, faith.
- We are non-denominational. We unite in knowing Jesus Christ as our personal savior.
- Although some articles submitted will not actually contain great spiritual content, it is always, to reflect Biblical Perspective. We only use the King James Versions, NIV, Message, Amplified Versions of Scripture.
- Every article should include at least a verse. Even for sports- you can find one on endurance, etc.
- No posts of condemnation toward anyone or thing.
- We want posts that capture the interests of our readers; Christian Women, & women seeking guidance.
- Not looking for sermons, or articles about your way of what you think church should be like.
- This is not an online ‘journal’. Every posts needs to be directed towards your column or a category. Although I realize you will pull from your daily life at times to construct your post. There is balance in this. It needs to be able to turn around and have direct purpose for sharing.
- If guidelines are broken I or Senior Editor Shona Neff will notify you and break the link to your post; either to allow you to adjust it or to remove it.
