Like Joseph suddenly left prison and moved into the palace, Shonda feels like she’s met her suddenly moment at Take Root and Write. Shonda’s “prison” years have not been in vain. As a homeschool teacher, she’s taught her students to write, edited her students’ papers, and has read classics as training.
Shonda’s freelance work has appeared in local newspapers, regional magazines, Sunday school curriculum, online devotional sites and compilation books. She’s taken college writing courses, online writing courses, participated in critique groups, and attended writing conferences to hone her craft. She continues to pursue writing education by participating in writing groups, classes, and conferences.
When asked by Shona to pray about serving as co-editor, Shonda said, “I’m honored to be asked by Shona and Noelle to serve as co-editor with Take Root and Write. It felt like a kiss from heaven. How could I refuse this God-given opportunity?”
Currently Shonda is working on several writing projects. She has received invitations from publishers to submit proposals for consideration on a book and/or Bible study. She’s also working on submissions for another compilation book to be released later this year. She’s also working on a women’s devotional book to point women to live Christ-filled lives.
Shonda is married to Eldon, her husband of 21 years, and lives in southwest Texas. She has two boys, one of whom lives life as an adult. The younger son, a sixth grader, she chauffeurs around the U.S. (and Puerto Rico) to play baseball on local and national traveling teams.
Shonda is a CLASS certified communicator and Advanced Bronze Toastmaster. She’s been a Bible teacher for six years and is now launching out into a speaking ministry with women’s groups, conferences and retreats. She has been on a short-term mission’s trip to Cameroon, Africa, where she spoke before crowds of more than 500.
Shonda’s ministry, Engrafted by Grace, encourages women to live Fully Engrafted Lives™. You can visit her website at Engrafted by Grace & Shonda’s Journal is her blog journal of life lessons from the Lord.
