Many years ago, more than she wants to dwell on, Shona’s kindergarten and third grade teachers predicted she would become a writer. Although Shona has yet to be published she feels the abundant blessings of being Editor of Take Root and Write. Shona was one of the original writers when Take Root and Write launched in July of 2008, and was thrilled when editor and founder, Noelle Mena, approached her about becoming the co-editor a few months later. With the growth of Take Root and Write, Shona has now stepped up to Editor leading the way for us to bring on a team of Co-Editors under her.
In addition to writing three columns, “Practical Christianity”, “Easy Eats for the Cooking Impaired”, and “Purely Personalities”, Shona is the Editor over all articles for the Take Root and Write Team of over 45 writers. With an average of 30 or more articles posting weekly and growing, Shona is also building her team of Co-Editors.
Noelle has had her hands full with this self-proclaimed “computer cave girl.” But miracles do still happen and, despite all of the kicking and screaming, Shona has been brought into the 21st Century world of computers.
Shona is married to her BFF, Warren, twenty-two years and lives in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. She has two sons, Brian (in college) and Eric (a high-school student.) They share their home with two Welsh Terriers (Cooper and Newman) and a highway-find (Watson).
Shona is a CLASS (CLASSeminars; Training Christian Communicators Around the Globe ) graduate and a Certified Personality Trainer trained under CLASS Founder; Florence Littauer and Marita Littauer. In addition to her work at TRW, she has a weekly radio show on an Albuquerque, New Mexico, Christian station. You can hear “Practical Christianity” on KKIM every Saturday morning at 7:30 Mountain Time. If you aren’t in the Albuquerque area, you can listen via Warp Radio accessible via the KKIM website.
Shona’s other interest included working out (even though she does it for health reason, not enjoyment), watching cheesy reality shows (shhh, don’t spread that around), politics, and Jane Austin books….Mr. Darcy anyone? She also plays piano, guitar, and for some reason God has actually allowed her to write songs and compose music. Shona is living proof that God does, indeed, work in mysterious ways.
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me has not been in vain.
(1 Corinthians 15:10 NRSV)
